Built in 1865 by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono VI, Dalem Mangkubumen was built as the residence for Prince Adipati Anom. After the prince naik tahta, this dalem was inhabited by his womb brother GPH Mangkubumi, so the dalem was more famous with the name Dalem Mangkubumen. After GPH Mangkubumi passed away, his brother GPH Buminoto replaced him in inhabiting Dalem Mangkubumen until 1928. This residence had also ever been the interim residence by General Sudirman in Dutch Military Agression II. From 1983 until now, Dalem Mangkubumen has been used as campus of Widya Mataram University and Mataram High School.
