Ndalem Condrokiranan on Wijilan Street Print

Previous to being named ndalem Condrokiranan the residence was known as Wijilan. The residence has changed ownership several times in the past. It was occupied by AKGP Aryo Mataram who was then promoted to be Hamengku Buwono III. Next the building was owned by Princess Wijil who was succeeded by his son, KRT Wijil. Finally the building was given to BPH Joyowinoto and then sold to the last owner, GKR Condrokirono who is the wife of KPH Danurejo VIII, the last vice regent of Yogyakarta.

Currently with the permission of the owner, ndalem Condrokiranan is used as Museum Sonobudoyo unit II, for accommodating Museum Sonobudoyo I collections which increase from time to time. You will find in the collection tandu Pakualaman, Javanese musical set, handicrafts and crops from regencies in Yogyakarta the special province. Actually like other buildings, ndalem Condrokiranan is a Javanese traditional house equipped with veranda, pringgitan, and gandhok on the left and right side. On the development, the ndalem experienced some changes following old and new European styles. Therefore, the genuine building can still be recognized.
