It is called Dalem Benawan because it was previously the residence of GBPH Benowo, the 36th son of Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono VIII and BRAy. Retnohadiningrum. This Dalem is located in the north part of Rotowijayan street, precisely in the west part of Dalem Joyokusuman. Administratively, this Dalem is located at Kelurahan Kadipaten. Until now this Dalem still becomes the residence of the heirs of GBPH Benowo, and in its surrounding, there are still many abdi dalem’s well-established residences.
